PENfro Short Radio Drama Competition 2017 Rules
Closing date: Sunday, July 30th, 2017.
The drama should run for between five and ten minutes. You should calculate roughly one minute per page. This is approximately from 800 to 1600 words in length. Test your drama by reading it aloud at performance pace and timing it, allowing sufficient time for FX and action.
The drama should be capable of being performed by a maximum of three actors, so doubling up is permissible to a degree. But be careful... too many characters in a short audio piece can easily confuse!
For consistency, we would prefer that you submit your drama using the radio script template provided. Refer to guidelines for help.
Your drama can be set at any time and in any place but should contain an element of myth, folk tale or legend.
We judge anonymously so PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE ANY PERSONAL DETAILS ON YOUR SCRIPTS.
Pay by Paypal or credit card for online entries. Please ensure you have read the competition rules below before you submit your script/s.
The competition is open to anyone aged 16 or over.
Your script should be in English, and not have been previously published broadcast, nor be currently submitted for or competition elsewhere.
Scripts must be the original work of the entrant, they must be typed, preferably to the format provided (Click here) and submitted as a word doc or pdf and be between five and 10 minutes in length (approx. 800 –1600 words).
Details of the winners will be announced at PENfro Book Festival on Friday 8th at 7pm September 2017 and will be published on the PENfro website.
Copyright remains with the authors, but PENfro Book Festival reserves the right to display winning scripts on its website and post an mp3 of the finished drama.
The judges’ decision is final.
